According to Deloitte, two-thirds of Dutch people are financially vulnerable

In Finance Flash, ELFIN provides you with the most important, salient news from the world of finance. This time: according to Deloitte, two-thirds of Dutch people are financially vulnerable.

Are you financially sound? Being financially healthy is not just about being poor or not. According to a Deloitte survey, being financially healthy is “the state in which one feels in control to comfortably meet all current and ongoing financial obligations, and build financial security to pursue life goals.

And yes, there is still a lot of ground to be gained on that in the Netherlands. Especially when it comes to women.

In fact, the survey shows that only 27% of the Dutch are financially healthy. To that end, the study looked not only at income and debt, but also at behavior and attitudes toward money. Because that too says a lot about to what extent you are financially vulnerable. Of course, your age and your job also have an influence; for example, young people and self-employed people appear to be quite unhealthy financially because they are more likely to face unforeseen circumstances and do not yet have a very high income.

There is also some catching up to do when it comes to women. For example, the study shows that they earn less and have a lower buffer than men. They delve less into financial matters, which, according to the study, leaves them behind in their financial empowerment. They are less likely to borrow than men, again.
