Stock market update Nov. 8-12: 5 factors that can cause stock market fluctuations

This week we are going to talk about 5 factors that can cause stock market fluctuations. From insurer Lemonade to the opening of the U.S. borders. According to analysts at CMC Markets, it promises to be a great November in the stock market. They predict the upward trend will continue and see markets showing “surprising resilience” in times of inflation. Find out here the five things we are going to see reflected in stock market news in the coming days.

Lemonade – insurer – on the stock market

The American Lemonade makes on Monday, November 8 announced its quarterly results. One of the most spectacular IPOs in 2020 was that of Lemonade. However, since then it has been considerable volatility that has rung the bell.

Lemonde is now also going to offer auto insurance than that, among other things, makes analysts still believe that Lemonade has a lot of long-term potential. Sales of some $33.4 million expected, an increase of 87% compared to the same period last year

Disney stock: back in the plus because of Disney+?

Despite the reopening of Disneyland parks around the world, Disney shares fell 5.4% since the beginning of this year. Disney shareholders are not having a great year so far.

Still, much is expected of performance Disney+. The goal is for the streaming service to gain between 230 and 260 million subscribers by 2024. What other plans Disney has to get back on the road to success, the company will go on to explain during its quarterly earnings discussion on Wednesday, November 10.

Will Merck overshadow BioNTech?

Since the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, Germany’s BioNTech has been a household name. The pharmaceutical company, together with Pfizer, made a vaccine that has been massively purchased and used by many countries. Retrieved from Wednesday, November 10 BioNTech will announce its third quarter results, which many investors will be watching with interest.

Despite huge demand for BioNTech’s mRNA vaccine, the pharma saw its share price fall 34% in September. As a result, it underperformed the S&P 500. This is because the third shot with the vaccine is currently reserved in many countries for those most at risk of severe complications from Covid-19. Many governments have not yet ordered large quantities of the vaccine needed to instill the entire population.

On top of that, BioNTech suffers from competitor Merck Group. This party is making considerable business headway. Britain approved pharmaceutical company Merck’s Molnupiravir, a pill against corona, as the first country in the world. Merck Group announces its quarterly results a day later than BioNTech, on Thursday, November 11.

U.S. borders open again

From Monday, November 8 vaccinated tourists can travel to the United States again. When the Joe Biden administration announced the news in September, the prices of stocks such as Delta Airlines, United and Air France-KLM all flew up. Investors are anxious to see whether prices will rise again on Nov. 8, the moment the U.S. borders are officially reopened

Focus on the ZEW index

After five consecutive declines, we get on Tuesday, November 9 another update on the ZEW index. The ZEW index gives us insight into investor sentiment in Germany and is critical to understanding how investors think about the economic health of the European market.

Therefore, investors’ eyes will be on ETFs containing companies from Germany, France and the broader Eurozone. For example, the EU TOP 600 Index ETF (iShares) or the Europe Stoxx 50 Index ETF (iShares) are ETTs where we may start to see some volatility.
