Convenient financial services for entrepreneurs

Okay, you’ve just started out for yourself or want to. You have your business idea, your dream target group, filling your days in freedom: nothing stands in your way. Oh, wait … except for those finances. Hm, not the very best thing that comes with working for yourself: administration, banking and taxes. Therefore, we offer some tips on useful financial services for entrepreneurs.

Our first tip

Before we move on to useful tools, here’s a first tip. From us fellow entrepreneurs: get your finances right from the start. And schedule a time every 2 weeks/month to update everything. We know, we know … rather you are working on the core of your business, but end of the quarter retroactively linking, booking and paying everything is shit. Make sure you are also well aware of the dates that you must file sales tax returns, for example, and do so in a timely manner. And an orientation meeting with an accountant to get a feel for what’s important to you can’t hurt either.

Especially for ELFIN, Marissa Bonants of The Money Mate is coming to provide master classes on how to set financial goals as an entrepreneur and how to set your prices as an entrepreneur. Nov. 19, 2021 is the first master class, Feb. 23, 2022 is the second. Free for ELFIN members. For non-ELFIN members, a single ticket costs €15.

Administration tool

Anyway, here we go. A convenient online accounting program can be super efficient, especially in the early days. Tools such as Moneymonk or Moneybird can help. You can enter your invoices here, send invoices, track project hours and mileage. Also – if you keep track of this properly – these tools automatically calculate what you have to pay in sales tax, for example.

Cheap sofa

When you’re just starting out in business, you don’t want to incur unnecessary expenses. Like, for example, paying €16 a month for your bank account (no joke, this happens). If you open an account with Knab, you pay €3 per month for the first year, and €6 after that. See, that saves €120 a year in no time.

Network

A network is crucial. Not only to acquire clients, but also to share experiences, ask for advice and get the mental support when needed. Qommunity is a platform for freelancers with fine benefits: networking, master classes and discounts on services such as the products mentioned above. Costs €380 a year, buy a whole group of fine colleagues at once.
