You are a badass at making money | Jen Sincero

Lieke, founder Elfin: This book shows very well how your own thoughts about money influence your behavior. Jen helps you recognize and release limiting thoughts and old-fashioned beliefs. She shares her personal story and combines a bit of spirituality with down-to-earthness. And it made me laugh out loud, too.

BLUT | Dorothee Loorbach

Puck, founder Elfin: A book that seems to be about money, but made me tearfully read page after page by chapter 1. Because what she writes is so relatable. Because she is so honest, tremendously vulnerable and writes one raunchy sentence after another. It is mainly about how you as a person can sabotage yourself and work yourself into financial misery because you suffer from all kinds of limiting beliefs around money.

Money is not about money, money is rarely about money. Especially for us women. What we think about money, how we think about money, and how our thinking determines our behavior and therefore our reality, is far more important than the money itself. Dorothée talks very honestly about her previous judgments about money and how that got her into trouble. For a long time Dorothée had the belief that money was not important, a little dirty even, and that rich people were stingy people, and that striving for more money is unsympathetic. But then she realized that limiting herself to financial resources helps no one.

“On the contrary: when I’m broke, I can’t help anyone at all. Including myself. I always thought it was noble not to want too much for yourself, because I thought that if I had more, someone else would have less. But that is simply not true. Everything is energy. Money is energy. Energy is always there and it is always moving. So there will always be enough of it for everyone.”

The Psychology of Money | Morgan Housel

Tamara, Team Elfin: one of the first books I read about money. Ideal as a first introduction to moneymindset. What has occurred to me is that finance is a very personal thing. You often see on the Internet or with finfluencers that they promise to own the truth for financial freedom, but that’s not how it works. How you think about money, what money goals you have and what actions fit with them depends entirely on who you are as a person and your life situation.

The 4-hour workweek | Timothy Ferris

Robin, Team Elfin: I was given this book by my business coach and from the first page I was bowled over. This book is all about living richly in the here and now. Don’t wait to do fun things until you are retired. This book shows you the way to a life of few working hours, lots of free time and money in abundance.
