Our personal story

Several years ago, Nikkie had a webshop of her own, with an old-fashioned accountant. As the web shop continued to grow, administration became more and more of a burden. The accountant’s difficult language didn’t make this any better (you know that feeling of feeling stupid?). With the eventual result that the joy of entrepreneurship was disappearing more and more, and she decided to sell the web shop.

During the sales process, she met Marc (accountant). Together they began to brainstorm that surely accounting could be more modern and fun. And from that came the idea for Paperdork: a modern accounting solution for the new generation of entrepreneurs. Where the accountants are young, digital people who understand how online business works. AND how to explain tax rules in plain language.

Finally, Erik (developer) joined as the third co-founder. After all, that ideal accounting solution also included an accounting program. A modern and clean design, with everything you need but with everything working as simply as possible. And it came! We went live in January 2020, and just over 2 years later we are super proud of our 800+ happy ‘dorkies.
